U.S. House Democrats say they could win a seat in IL's 6th CD

SPRINGFIELD – While objections with the State Board of Elections remain pending, several members of the Illinois congressional delegation face challenges in the March 2018 primary.

Among Democrat incumbents, 1st CD's Bobby Rush, 2nd CD's Robin Kelly, 3rd CD's Dan Lipinski, supposedly retiring 4th CD's Luis Gutierrez, 5th CD's Mike Quigley, 7th CD's Danny Davis, will face other names on the ballot.

Republican incumbents Adam Kinzinger (IL-16), Mike Bost (IL-12) and Darin LaHood (IL-18) will face primary challengers.

The Democrats are running polls in swing districts such as the 6th CD, suggesting Roskam could be in danger of losing his seat in 2018 and helping the Democrats regain a majority in the U.S. House. Hillary Clinton won in Roskam's district in 2016.

Bobby Rush faced one challenger in the 1st CD race until he withdrew after Christmas:

  1. Four candidates vying to be the GOP candidate against Jan Schakowsky in the 9th – that is amazing!
I have been following, and have met many of the people who volunteered to become the sacrificial lambs against her over the past 2 decades.
Hats off to them for trying – but here’s the reality.
This once-suburban GOP district has been so gerrymandered (it now goes down to Boystown and even to North Ave. in Chicago) – that a Republican can spend 6 figures and mount a textbook campaign- as did Breitbart’s Joel Pollack – or be a certifiably insane woman and spend no money – as happened 2 cycles ago – and in either case will get only 22% to 26% of the vote.
But God bless them for trying.
At least it forces Schakowsky to spend some of her Evanston Democrat political machine money on herself, rather than giving it all to other leftist Dems.
