CHICAGO – Last Saturday, US Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois jumped aboard the #ENDICE train, blasting the US Immigration & Customs Enforcement, telling a sympathetic CNN reporter the agency's officers are "incompetent," despite ICE's statistics for 2017:

From ICE for 2017:

  • Despite numerous stories and allegations in the media falsely accusing ICE of conducting indiscriminate raids and sweeps, the fact is that 92% of all aliens arrested by ICE this year had criminal convictions, pending criminal charges, were an immigration fugitive, or were an illegal re-entrant.
  • ICE is also on the frontlines of the fight against illegal narcotics trafficking that is contributing to the country’s deadly opioid epidemic. Our special agents seized approximately 7,000 pounds of heroin and more than 2,300 pounds of fentanyl, a drug so deadly, just a few grams can be lethal.

And what does Senator Durbin say about their efforts?

  1. This country has a nearly 21 trillion dollar fed debt, that is being pushed down the road to our future generations. So tell me Durbin, just who is incompetent. Long time congressional members have no shame in leaving a mountain of debt to our future generations… ain’t that right despicable Dick.
The US constitution mandates congress protect the states from illegal alien invasion, congress has to provide border security for the country… its the law. Of course the democrats aren’t concerned with the Constitution, the supreme law of the land. Those expecting ICE to be abolished are foolish

  2. Another strident voice for zero interior immigration enforcement and open borders is Durbin’s protégé US Representative Michael Quigley (D-5th). His stock constituent response letter on the topic of illegal immigration states: “I will continue to advocate for the acceptance of all immigrants and refugees into the United States.”
His unequivocal support of open borders and zero law enforcement does not recognize any illegals as criminals subject to deportation. He is a proponent of sanctuary cities.
Quigley has also sponsored legislation seeking to prohibit state and local law enforcement agencies from helping to enforce US immigration laws.
