D.C. – US Attorney General Jeff Sessions submitted his resignation Wednesday morning – reportedly at President Donald Trump's request.

"At your request, I am submitting my resignation," Sessions wrote in a letter released shortly after the news hit.

Sessions' departure has been anticipated for a while, and it was widely speculated it would be after the mid-term election.
