Telecommunications companies are actively deploying the fifth-generation wireless network (5G). The telecoms pushing 5G see only the estimated $12-trillion monetary return the 5G wireless network is expected to bring. What is not widely acknowledged is that 5G will also result in unprecedented health risks and environmental change on a global scale.
The blast has begun. SpaceX made history on May 23, 2019, when a two-stage Falcon 9 rocket from Florida's Cape Canaveral Air Force Station carried the first 60 satellites in SpaceX's Starlink internet constellation for 5G from space.
International Appeal by EMF Scientists
A 5G Appeal was prepared in 2017 by scientists and doctors who are urgently calling for the EU to halt the roll out of 5G due to serious potential health effects from this new technology.
As of May 16, 2019, 235 scientists and medical doctors have signed the 5G Appeal. Numerous scientific publications have shown harmful effects including "increased cancer risk, cellular stress, increase in harmful free radicals, genetic damages, structural and functional changes of the reproductive system, learning and memory deficits, neurological disorders, and negative impacts on general well-being in humans. Damage goes well beyond the human race, as there is growing evidence of harmful effects to both plants and animals."
There is also a current International Appeal to Stop 5G on Earth and in Space. As of May 19, 2019, there are 91,382 signatories from at least 168 countries. Following is the appeal:
To the UN, WHO, EU, Council of Europe and Governments of all Nations:
We the undersigned scientists, doctors, environmental organizations and citizens from 168 countries, urgently call for a halt to the deployment of the 5G (fifth generation) wireless network, including 5G from space satellites. 5G will massively increase exposure to radio frequency (RF) radiation on top of the 2G, 3G and 4G networks for telecommunications already in place. RF radiation has been proven harmful for humans and the environment. The deployment of 5G constitutes an experiment on humanity and the environment.
The planned density of radio frequency transmitters is impossible to envisage or conceive of as a desirable future event. In addition to millions of new 5G base stations on Earth and 20,000 new satellites in space, 200 billion transmitting objects, according to estimates, will be part of the Internet of Things by 2020, and one trillion objects a few years later. Commercial 5G will literally irradiate continuously (day and night) every inch of planet Earth, with pulsed microwave radiation emitted simultaneously from 20,000 satellites in space and from hundreds of thousands of microcell towers in each and every city!"
Phased Array: Why 5G is Different and More Harmful
The single most important fact about 5G that nobody is talking about is called “phased array.” It will totally change the way cell towers and cell phones are constructed and will transform the blanket of radiation, which has enveloped our world for two decades, into a million powerful beams whizzing by us and through us at all times.
“When an ordinary electromagnetic field enters the body, it causes charges to move and currents to flow. But when extremely short electromagnetic pulses (the type used by 5G) enter the body, something else happens: the moving charges themselves become little antennas that re-radiate the electromagnetic field and send it deeper into the body. These re-radiated waves are called Brillouin precursors. Consequently, the reassurance we are being given—that these millimeter waves are too short to penetrate far into the body is not true.”
According to Joel Moskowitz, a public health expert at the University of
California at Berkeley:
“The eyes and sweat glands are among several body parts studies have shown could be at risk. Additionally, studies on the impact of radiation from radio waves used by previous generations of wireless have raised health concerns, and some 5G networks will operate in part on those lower-frequency waves too.”
Ronald Melnick, designer of the NTP (National Toxicology Program) study — conducted in Chicago and originated by the FDA — says the study “shows clear evidence of a causal link between cancer and exposure to wireless cell phone signals.” He adds that “An important lesson that should be learned from the NTP studies is that we can no longer assume that any current or future wireless technology, including 5G, is safe without adequate testing.”
Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) and Biological Harm
The Planetary Association for Clean Energy (PACE), in writing a letter to the United Nations Human Rights Council, paints an even grimmer picture of biological harm from EMR radiation than previous references in this article have alluded to. They are noted below:
“There are more than 10,000 peer-reviewed studies pertaining to the health impacts of EMR and substantial evidence for the cumulative nature and eventual irreversibility of some effects, whether neurological/neuropsychiatric, reproductive, cardiac, mutations in DNA, or hormonal effects. Some may affect the evolution of the human race.
In humans, there is clear evidence that EMR is causing not only cancer but a wide array of debilitating ailments including cognitive impairment, learning and memory deficits, neurological damage, miscarriage, impaired sperm function and quality, obesity, diabetes, tinnitus, impacts on general well-being, alteration of heart rhythm, and cardiovascular diseases. At the cellular level EMR causes alterations in metabolism and stem cell development, gene and protein expression, increased free radicals, oxidative stress and DNA damage.
Effects in children are even more significant due to their smaller size,higher water content, rapidly replicating cells and lifetime of exposure. The effects include many listed above plus autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and asthma.
The impact of wireless telecommunication technologies on humans and their environment was never tested before each and every new generation was globally deployed. Average adults and their children have been used as experimental guinea pigs without ever being informed or asked for their consent. {In truth} the public has been actively misled.
Peer-reviewed studies recently published predict thermal skin burns in humans from 5G and resonant absorption by insects, which absorb much more radiation at millimeter wavelengths than they do at wavelengths presently in use.
PACE believes that 5G, together with previous generations of wireless technology, is an experiment on humanity that constitutes cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment under General Assembly resolution 39/46 of 10 December 1984. The deployment of 5G violates over 15 international agreements, treaties and recommendations, including article 7 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which derives from the Nuremberg Code of 1947.”
Assessment of 5G Potential Health Risks
Most people believe that the FDA and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) carefully assess the health risks of these technologies before approving them; however, in testimony taken by Democrat Senator Blumenthal of Connecticut, the FCC admitted it has not conducted any safety studies on 5G.
Blumenthal decried the FDA’s statements on health risks as “pretty unsatisfactory” and concluded the FCC testimony with “so there really is no research ongoing. We’re kind of flying blind here, as far as health and safety is concerned.”
Chicago and 5G
Now that the hazards are about to be ratcheted up dramatically — deployment has already begun in Chicago — more citizens and legislators need to join those who are actively resisting the reckless push for 5G.
Sam Rutherford of Gizmodo reported on April 3rd, 2019 Verizon’s announcement that its “5G network was officially live in Chicago and Minneapolis, and with it, Big Red claimed that not only has it delivered the first commercially available 5G cell network in the U.S., but actually the entire world.” Rutherford mapped out the area covered so far.
The General Assembly passed a 5G deployment and Governor Rauner signed it (over some opposition) last year.
It is evident that members of the General Assembly voted for 5G without researching health effects and environmental risks associated with 5G. Were our legislators blindsided by the spin put out by the Telecoms and the FCC?
Concluding Thought
If the telecommunications industry’s plans for 5G should come to fruition, no person, no animal, no bird, no insect and no plant on Earth will be able to avoid exposure, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As the levels of RF (Radio Frequency) radiation exposure will be tens to hundreds of times greater than what exists today, there will be no possibility of escaping RF radiation anywhere on the planet. These 5G plans threaten to cause serious, irreversible effects on humans and permanent damage to all of the Earth’s ecosystems.
Immediate measures must be taken to protect humanity and the environment, keeping with ethical imperatives and international agreements.
