The raid took place at Austin's 34th Ward office on West 111th Street. Austin is the second-longest serving alderman on the City Council behind 14th Ward Ald. Ed Burke, whose offices were raided last year. Burke is  facing an array of political corruption charges himself.

“The FBI is conducting court-authorized law enforcement activities in that area. There is no further information at this time,” said Siobhan Johnson, FBI Chicago special agent in charge of communications.

Last month, Mayor Lightfoot ousted Austin from her position as longtime chairwoman of the City Council's Budget Committee.
