In yet another shake-up within the Illinois Republican Party, Tim Ozinga has officially resigned from his role as State Central Committeeman for the 1st Congressional District, effective January 12, 2025. The announcement came through a press release from Will County GOP Chairwoman Christina Clausen, thanking Ozinga for his years of service. While the statement praised Ozinga’s leadership and dedication, his departure raises serious questions about the stability and direction of the Illinois GOP. As the party continues to grapple with internal dysfunction and ineffective leadership, this resignation adds to the growing list of setbacks for Republicans in Illinois. The search for Ozinga’s replacement will now be overseen by the 1st District Congressional Committee, comprised of Republican chairmen from Cook, Kankakee, and Will Counties.

Thank You to Tim Ozinga for His Years of Service

The Will County Republican Central Committee would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Tim Ozinga for his dedicated service as State Central Committeeman for the 1st Congressional District. Tim’s commitment to the Republican Party, his leadership, and his passion for advancing our shared values have left an indelible mark on our district and the state of Illinois.

Tim Ozinga officially resigned from his position on January 12, 2025. His tenure has been marked by integrity, collaboration, and an unyielding focus on strengthening our party and fostering conservative principles.

Pursuant to Article II, Section C of the Bylaws of the Illinois Republican Party, a vacancy now exists in the office of State Central Committeeman for the 1st Congressional District.

The 1st District Congressional Committee, which comprises the Republican Chairmen from Cook, Kankakee, and Will Counties, will oversee the process of appointing a new State Central Committeeman to fill this important role. A formal notice, along with an application process, will be issued later this week.

We thank Tim Ozinga for his years of dedicated service and wish him the very best in all his future endeavors. His leadership and commitment to the Republican cause will continue to inspire us as we work together to build a stronger future for our communities, our state, and our nation.
