On Friday the Jesuit Magazine withdrew its previous endorsement of Judge Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court. According to the Jesuits, a person is not presumed innocent unless proven guilty. They have reversed that standard to one that demands that an accused person must prove they are innocent. Here is their statement. “If Senate Republicans proceed with his nomination, they will be prioritizing policy aims over a woman’s report of an assault,” the Jesuit magazine said. “Were he to be confirmed without this allegation being firmly disproved, it would hang over his future decisions on the Supreme Court for decades and further divide the country.” I graduated from a Jesuit college, Loyola University of Chicago, and I have never been more ashamed of an immoral stand by the Society of Jesus.
