The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is back at it again and encouraging Americans to wear a mask this season as public health officials in New York, New Jersey and California reinstate COVID-era mask mandates at healthcare facilities despite a recent pandemic report that concluded among other things – the ineffectiveness and lack of science behind mask mandates.

In a post in December on the CDC’s official X account, they wrote, “The best way to reduce your risk from seasonal flu is to get a #flu vaccine but preventive actions like covering your mouth & nose when coughing/sneezing may help prevent those around you from getting sick. Wearing a mask also can provide another layer of protection.”

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene also recently posted on their official X account, writing, “COVID-19, flu and RSV are all currently spreading in NYC. Wearing a mask in crowded indoor settings can help protect you and protect others if you’re sick. Well-fitting masks, such as KN95s, KF94s or N95s, provide the best protection.”

The comments on both social media posts have generated a firestorm of negative responses with one user writing, “Masks don‘t prevent spread. This is junk science.” Another wrote, “Face diapers don’t work!” And a user by the name Deano wrote, “Your credibility is plunging below zero.”

On December 2nd, the U.S. House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic released its final report after a 2-year investigation that confirmed what many Americans have been saying along – the vaccine did not stop the spread or transmission of the disease, mask mandates were implemented without any scientific data – and lockdowns – especially school closures – caused “immeasurable harm” to children and adults.

The report also found that many decisions by government officials that included social distancing guidelines were not based on science – as former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci testified that the guidance “sort of just appeared.” Widespread abuse of power by government officials, including Fauci was also identified in the findings. Officials also purposely ignored the effectiveness of natural immunity.

Fauci remains a controversial figure and is blamed for implementing mandates and guidelines that were not based on scientific evidence, while at the same time abusing his power during the pandemic. In 2020 – the year of the pandemic, Dr. Fauci and his wife, who also earned a federal government salary, earned over $868,000 in income and compensation – making him the highest paid official in the federal government. In the two years since his retirement, Americans were also left with a $15 million taxpayer-funded security detail for Fauci as he was chauffeured around in a motorcade of SUVs and surrounded by a team of U.S. Marshalls around the clock. Fauci went on vacations, took walks with his wife and embarked on a national book tour – all while being trailed by a large contingent of taxpayer-funded security officers.

President Joe Biden and his team are considering granting Fauci a rare pre-emptive pardon in lieu of this report and the recent election of President Donald Trump – who has vowed to root out corruption and hold officials like Fauci accountable for their actions during the pandemic.
